The National Association of Park Foundations (The NAPF) is dedicated exclusively to building the capacity of park foundations and friends groups. By providing information, education, advocacy and networking opportunities, we help our members focus their energy on the people and communities they serve. Park foundations and friends groups across the country who join NAPF receive a wide variety of member benefits. The cost of those benefits and the membership are offset by the generous contributions of our supporters.

As municipalities around the country struggle to keep up with rising demand for new park spaces, they re also suffering from pressure to rebuild crumbling infrastructure, fully fund emergency services and the other day to day costs of running a city, county or park district. As a result, smart communities are turning to public/private partnerships in the form of park foundations and friends groups to fill the gap between taxpayer dollars and what is needed to build new parks and increase park quality/capacity.

The National Association of Park Foundations possesses the skills and experience to assist communities in their desire to create park foundations or jump start a current foundation into becoming a high performer. In turn, these foundations raise money from public and private sources for this purpose. Urban communities and communities of color benefit the most from the use of park foundations because the park foundation boards are made up of citizens from and are located in the communities those foundations serve.

By donating to The National Association of Park Foundations, you are making an investment in local parks in communities all over the United States of America. A great number of the park foundations are located in urban areas of the country that have traditionally been underserved in park and recreation opportunities. Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to offset the cost of developing educational materials, conferences and one-on-one counseling for cities, counties and park districts that want to create a park foundation or are looking to jump start a current foundation into becoming a high performer.
